Throne of Grace: Approach with Bold Confidence!

Hello, my friends!

Have you ever found yourself hesitating to approach God, feeling unworthy or afraid that you'll face judgment? Many believers struggle with this misconception, but the glorious truth is that God's throne isn't primarily a throne of judgment—it's a throne of grace! This revelation can transform your entire spiritual journey.

Understanding God's Grace Throne

The writer of Hebrews extends a remarkable invitation in Hebrews 4:16: “Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Notice that this verse doesn't describe God's throne as merely having grace available on occasion—it's fundamentally characterised as a “throne of grace.”

This distinction matters profoundly. God doesn't just offer grace as an exception to His usual posture of judgment; rather, grace forms the very foundation of His reign. He governs from grace, rules through grace, and delights in extending grace to His children.

The True Meaning of Grace

Many define grace simply as “unmerited favour,” which is true but incomplete. Grace is also God's divine ability operating in place of our human inability. When we approach the throne of grace, we're not merely receiving forgiveness—we're being empowered with supernatural strength to accomplish what we could never do in our own power.

The apostle Paul understood this when he wrote in Romans 5:20, “Where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” No matter how overwhelming your struggle might seem, God's grace is exponentially greater! This isn't a licence to sin but an assurance that God's power to transform you exceeds sin's power to enslave you.

Approaching with Bold Confidence

When we truly understand that God reigns from a throne of grace, our approach to Him changes dramatically. No more cowering in fear, no more hiding in shame. Instead, we can come boldly, knowing that the One seated on the throne eagerly desires to pour out His grace upon us.

This confidence isn't arrogance; it's faith-filled expectation based on God's revealed character. We approach not on the basis of our performance but on the merit of Christ's perfect sacrifice, which has secured our permanent access to this throne of grace.

From Law to Grace: The Path to Victory

Under the old covenant, the law only highlighted our inability to meet God's standards. Paul explained this dilemma in 1 Corinthians 15:56: “The strength of sin is the law.” But he also provided the solution in Romans 6:14: “Sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”

Victory over sin doesn't come through striving harder to keep rules. It comes through receiving more of God's grace. Grace doesn't just forgive sin—it teaches us to say no to ungodliness and yes to righteous living (Titus 2:11-12).

Be blessed today, my friends, and remember that the God of the universe reigns from a throne of grace, eagerly waiting for you to approach with confidence so He can lavish upon you everything you need for a life of victory and purpose!
